If you’re looking for a way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Dallas, we’re here to help. If the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival isn’t already one of your favorite yearly events in Dallas, it’s sure to become one soon.
This year will mark the 40th anniversary of the parade and festival, and Dallas is celebrating this occasion. The event will take place the day before St. Patrick’s Day – Saturday, March 16. This parade holds the title as the “Largest St. Patrick’s Parade in the Southwest,” as more than 1,700 people participate in this parade, which has a route that stretches over 2 miles with upwards of 125,000 spectators. Parade-goers can also enjoy the festival and concert nearby.
The history of the parade is what makes it so unique to Dallas. In 1988, the parade was cancelled by the city, but it didn’t stop the residents and the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association from hosting an “unparade” that then ensured that the application for the official parade would be approved in 1989 and every year after that.
To catch the parade this year, you’ll just need to find the perfect spot along the route. The parade starts at Greenville and Blackwell St. and ends at Yale Boulevard/SMU Boulevard and 75 Central Expressway. If you need a vehicle to get you to the parade, consider a car or SUV from Atzenhoffer Chevrolet Cadillac.
